Supporting First Generation Students In and Out of the Classroom workshop to be held

Join this Teaching and Learning Commons workshop to learn about program initiatives for first generation students at WVU and hear about experiences from faculty members who teach and mentor this important student population Monday, March 21, from 3-4 p.m. 

This session will focus on strategies and programs designed to support first generation students through teaching, advising and mentoring.

While this session is especially relevant to faculty and instructors who teach and/or advise larger populations of first generation students, all faculty and instructors are welcome. 

Presenters include: 

  • William Hal Gorby, Teaching Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Advising, Department of History;

  • Kris Hash, Professor, School of Social Work; and

  • Michelle Paden, Program Coordinator, Office of Student Success.
