Join the Office of the Provost and WVU’s most recent Benedum Distinguished Scholars for an evening of dialogue about research, passion and purpose tonight (March 8) at 7 p.m.
The 2022 Benedum Scholars Showcase will be an in-person event for a limited audience at the Gladys G. Davis Theatre of the WVU Creative Arts Center. A live-streaming option will also be available for virtual viewers.
Limited seats remain for the one-hour event. Interested attendees must register online.
Virtual audience members can tune in via the Benedum Distinguished Scholars Showcase website for the livestream.
A recording of the event will be made available on the website after the event.
Styled after James Lipton’s Emmy-award winning series “Inside the Actors Studio,” WVU’s “Inside the Scholars Studio” will highlight short videos of the three faculty members who were named as the Benedum Distinguished Scholars last spring, followed by a live panel discussion and Q&A session. Honorees include:
Cari Carpenter, professor of English in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, who was the recipient of the Benedum Distinguished Scholar Award in the Humanities and the Arts for her exemplary contributions to the field of American Indian Studies and women's literature of the 19th century United States;
Lisa Holland, professor of analytical chemistry in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, who was selected as the Benedum Distinguished Scholar in Physical Science and Technologies for developing many successful cutting-edge innovations in capillary electrophoresis instrumentation, including the use of self-assembled nanomaterials to process and separate complex biomolecules; and
Cheryl McNeil, professor of clinical child psychology in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences, who was recognized as the Benedum Distinguished Scholar in Behavioral and Social Sciences for her significant contributions to the research in and practice of parent-child interaction therapy.
Associate Provost for Faculty Development and Culture Melissa Latimer will serve as host and moderate the discussion.
