The WVU Humanities Center will host a hybrid workshop for faculty members on the value of Humanistic STEM learning in academia Friday, Feb. 4, at noon in the Greenbrier Room of the Mountainlair or via Zoom.
The workshop will be hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University faculty members and NSF grant recipients Debra T. Bourdeau and Beverly L. Wood. Their work focuses on crossing the divide between teaching STEM and humanities coursework to improve students’ long-term success inside and outside of the classroom.
H STEM is a path blending the study of science, technology, engineering and mathematics with interest in, and concern for, human affairs, welfare, values or culture.
Goals for attendees include an understanding of the humanities through the lens of the STEM disciplines that would not exist without the human focus on the progress of society in the areas of rhetoric, literature, history, philosophy, art, religion and ethics.
Register to participate virtually via Zoom.
To participate in person, RSVP to renee.nicholson@mail.wvu.edu.
