Building on the culture improvement work that began in 2016, West Virginia University plans to open the 2022 WVU Culture and Engagement Survey in spring 2022.
The survey is designed to promote a positive workplace culture by assessing our strengths and opportunities for improvement as an organization.
In preparation for the survey’s launch, the Leadership and Organization Development and HR Partner teams are hosting a series of one-hour focus groups (virtual and in-person) throughout the coming weeks with faculty and staff to provide them a sneak peek of the new survey and gather feedback on the overall survey experience.
Specific college/division focus groups are occurring throughout October. Participants were selected at random and represent a cross-section of colleges, divisions and units throughout WVU.
If asked, you are encouraged to attend a session with your college/division. You may be in a session with colleagues from your department or function or with individuals from other areas but not with your immediate supervisor or direct reports (if you have them).
The Leadership and Organization Development team is also hosting several open-invitation virtual focus groups later this month. The open-invitation focus groups will follow the same format and ask the same questions as the college/division sessions.
Similar to the college/division sessions, participants may be in a session with colleagues from their department or function or with individuals from other areas. However, participants will not attend sessions with their immediate supervisor or direct reports.
Faculty and staff should monitor their WVU email for more information on the open-invitation focus groups and the opportunity to register and attend a session. The schedule for the open-invitation focus groups will be:
WVU Faculty Focus Group – Thursday, Oct. 21, from 4 to 5 p.m.
WVU People-Leader Focus Group (specifically for those who supervise one or more WVU employees) – Thursday, Oct. 21, from 9 to 10 a.m.
WVU Staff Focus Group (specifically for non-supervisory staff) – Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 9 to 10 a.m.
Note: Additional sessions may be added based on interest and enrollment.
