Participants in youth programs at West Virginia University, including at its regional
campuses, are required to submit a registration form. A youth program is an event
designed specifically for minors where WVU faculty, staff, students or volunteers
have direct contact with the participating minors. This includes in-person as well
as virtual programs.
Registration is accepted on an ongoing basis. To make sure all requirements are met, such as training and background checks, the WVU Children on Campus program recommends registering no later than 60 days before the program start date.
In addition, all youth programs are required to follow university COVID protocols and campus guidelines, and organizers are advised to stay up to date on any changes.
“Preparing and planning youth programs involves lots of important steps,” said Cortney Simmons, educational outreach specialist in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion’s Equity Assurance Office. “In addition to required training and background checks, all staff and volunteers must sign a Code of Conduct. Also, it’s important for those involved to know what to do as a mandatory reporter if they observe or suspect child abuse or neglect.”
The registration form can be found on the Children on Campus website
or by clicking Event Registration

WVU Extension Service Programs will register using ZSuite. If you have any question about registering Extension Youth Programs, contact Kim Suder at kesuder@mail.wvu.edu.
