The University community is invited to virtually join two special Welcome Week events via live streams on Sunday and Monday. The live streams will begin at 7:15 p.m. each night.

Members of the Class of 2024 (sophomores only) will converge at Mountaineer Field in Milan Puskar Stadium on Aug.15 for Sunday Night Lights since they were unable to enjoy an in-person event last year due to pandemic protocols.

This year, second-year students will have an opportunity to watch the Pride of West Virginia perform its pregame show, hang out with friends and get their official class photo taken in the state of West Virginia.

Those students will be able to park at Law School Hill, the Light Blue Lot (off of Willowdale Road) and at the Tan Lot (WVU Medicine parking garage also off of Willowdale Road) and walk to the stadium. The PRT will also be running until 11 p.m. Students enter via the southwest (home team) tunnel. That entrance opens at 6:30 p.m. for on-field festivities. All students attending are asked to arrive by 7:30 p.m.

First-year students from the Class of 2025 will head to the Stadium for their turn at the popular Welcome Week tradition, Monday Night Lights, on Aug. 16.

Freshmen students should eat dinner prior to the event at Café Evansdale, Hatfields or Summit dining hall, which will offer a barbeque themed menu, from 5-7 p.m. Starting at 6:30 p.m., students living on the Downtown area of campus can arrive at Parking Lot 5 (near the Business & Economics building) to depart to the stadium via buses. The last bus will leave at 7:30 p.m. Students living on the Evansdale area of campus will walk to the stadium via Oakland Street and/or Harding Avenue with help from their RA. Students enter via the southwest (home team) tunnel. That entrance opens at 6:30 p.m. for on-field festivities. All students attending are asked to arrive by 7:30 p.m.

Both events will feature games, special messages from President Gee and other leaders, plus lots of opportunities to learn more about University traditions. After the event, students will receive their class t-shirt and two traditional foods – a pepperoni roll and Flying WV cookie.
