During the 2021 legislative session, the West Virginia State Legislature passed Senate Bill 307 giving non-resident students attending state institutions of higher education  in-state tuition rates while actively serving in a West Virginia National Guard or Reserve  and using Chapter 1606 Montgomery GI Bill or a current member of the United States armed forces, effective this fall.

Students who believe they qualify for the in-state rate should send a Memorandum of Record from their unit to the WVU Center for Veteran, Military and Families Office at veterans@mail.wvu.edu.
