Courtesy accounts not needing MAP and Applaud access will become sponsored accounts

To reduce security risks created by a large volume of inactive Login accounts, Information Technology Services and Shared Services have created a new Sponsored account role that will replace most Courtesy accounts and require an annual renewal by the sponsor.

Sponsored accounts will be used for unpaid employees and affiliates who do NOT require access to MAP, Applaud or MyExpenses but who do need to access WVU systems such as WVU or HSC workstations, Google Workspace, Office 365 or eCampus. These accounts can also be used to create WVUID numbers for employees without providing additional, unnecessary access.

Moving forward, you will use a new self-service site at login.wvu.edu/sponsored to request, extend and remove accounts for vendors, visitors, consultants and other affiliates. Sponsored accounts must be requested at least one week before access is needed and are limited to one year; after that, each account must be reviewed to ensure it is still needed.

Going forward, Courtesy accounts will only be used for individuals who need MAP, Applaud or MyExpenses access.

To request a Courtesy account, submit a request to Shared Services. You can also contact them at 304-293-6006 or sharedservices@mail.wvu.edu

Contact the ITS Service Desk at 304-293-4444 if you have problems using the new self-service site.
