Children on Campus program teaches how to talk with kids about personal body safety

Cortney Simmons, educational outreach specialist in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, will lead the training session “Empower Me! An Overview for Adults” July 29 and Aug. 26 from noon to 1 p.m.

This training session will focus on best practices for parents and those who work with youth about how to make personal body safety messages empowering and effective. 

Participants will learn:

  • The importance of having ongoing personal safety talks as a family

  • The danger and ineffectiveness of focusing only on strangers, and

  • How to talk to children about touches.
