WVU is the 40th best college for the military and veteran community—a jump of 51 spots from the previous year, according to Military Times’ latest rankings.
“I am incredibly proud of our university and team for their hard work to support our veteran and military community of students,” said Jerry Wood, director of the Center for Veteran, Military and Family Programs.
“Jumping from 91st to 40th in the rankings in one year is no small feat. Our team is working tirelessly to ensure our veteran and military-connected students have an excellent experience on campus, have services and resources they need, have their benefits processed efficiently and accurately, and are treated fairly. By building on what we are doing now, adding improvements with our online program initiatives for veteran and military-connected students, our partnership between our integrated marketing communications program and the Defense Information School as well as continued dedication to our veteran and military students, I am optimistic to see WVU jump in the rankings again next year,” Wood added.
WVU’s Center for Veteran, Military and Family Programs Office has been working diligently over the years to improve veteran and military-connected student access to campus and community resources needed to enhance their overall college experience.
A major accomplishment has been matching the Department of Defense’s rates of $250 per credit hour for all undergraduate online programs for service members.
Additionally, WVU has provided a space for these students on campus and offers free tutoring services, study areas and direct contact to School Certifying Officials while certifying their benefits efficiently and treating them with the utmost dignity and respect.
