West Virginia University will host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic today (June 2) from 4 to 7 p.m. in the upper gym of the Student Recreation Center.
WVU faculty, staff and students as well as members of the community who are interested in receiving a Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer or Moderna vaccine may walk in to the clinic during operating hours.
Vaccines will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and both first and second doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will be available. Children aged 12 to 17 will be eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine at the clinic if they are accompanied by a legal guardian.
As a reminder, the University’s goal is to ultimately achieve an 80% vaccination rate for our campus community, which includes students, faculty and staff. If we can reach targeted milestones of increased vaccination rates, we will be able to relax certain restrictions and allow specified activities to resume.
In addition to the WVU clinic, vaccines also are available through the Greater Monongalia County COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic and several other community clinics, which can be found on the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources website or at vaccines.gov.
Note: The Greater Monongalia County COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic currently is offering only first and second doses of the Pfizer vaccine to members of the community aged 12 and older.
The University recognizes there are those who are hesitant to receive a vaccine. We strongly urge anyone who has concerns to speak with a health care provider to learn more about the vaccine. There is a lot of misinformation circulating — particularly on social media — and the best way to address concerns is by speaking to a medical professional.
All students and employees who have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 should follow these instructions to verify their vaccination with WVU in the Vaccine Verification System. You can access the system and complete the acknowledgment form via StarRez (WVU’s housing portal): myhousing.wvu.edu.
