The College of Education and Human Services is pleased to announce the recipients of its faculty awards for the 2020-21 academic year.
Each year, the College recognizes two faculty members with the Outstanding Teacher Award for their commitment to teaching and learning. This year, Aimee Morewood, associate professor of literacy education and Johnna Bolyard, associate professor of mathematics education, earned this honor. Morewood received the award for implementing innovative software in her online teaching, and Bolyard received the award for creating an outstanding classroom learning environment.
The Outstanding Researcher Award for a faculty member who produces quality research that extends the boundaries of knowledge in a discipline was given to Keri Valentine, associate professor of mathematics education. Valentine was recognized for her recent publications that examine phenomena of how humans move through, interact with, and learn from their spatial environments.
The Laddie R. Bell Distinguished Service Award is presented to a faculty member whose service promotes and enhances the productive interaction of College programs and responds to the needs of individuals and groups. Tiffany Mitchell Patterson, an assistant professor of social studies education, received the award for her contributions to racial and social justice initiatives at the university level and in the broader community.
