Faculty and staff are encouraged to join the Office of Student Wellness on a guided commute bike ride in celebration of National Bike to Work Day Friday (May 21).

The approximately six-mile ride will launch from Gritstone Climbing at 7 a.m. and participants will ride the rail trail through Ruby McQuin, continue through the Core Arboretum and finish at the Rec Center Refresh Box. Faculty and staff are encouraged to join in or head to their office at any point along the route. Free iced coffee and breakfast treats will be provided at the Rec Center Refresh Box from 7:30 to 9 a.m.

If you would like to participate, but don’t have a bike of your own, Adventure WV will offer free bike rentals from Thursday (May 20) until Monday (May 24).

Faculty and staff can reserve a rental here.

Reservations are open until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday (May 19). When filling out the rental form, include “BIKE TO WORK DAY!” in the comment section to secure a free rental.

After a day of work and cycling fun, faculty and staff (first-timers) are encouraged to join the Adventure WV team at Outdoor Rec Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a free session on bike safety and using the ABC (air, breaks and chain).

Commuters are also encouraged to stop in the Outdoor Rec Center within the Student Recreation Center to ensure their bike safety.
