WVU students and employees can register today for COVID-19 vaccine appointment

covid-19 vaccine

Beginning later today (March 30), all West Virginia University students and employees based in Morgantown who are aged 18 or older and previously completed a WVU questionnaire expressing interest in receiving a vaccine will receive an email to register and schedule an appointment at the Student Recreation Center via the Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS).

Instructions for creating a profile in VAMS and scheduling your first-dose appointment are available on the Return to Campus website.

Students and employees are encouraged to schedule their appointments promptly. All appointment times will be on a first-come, first-served basis, and time slots may fill up quickly. If there initially are no appointments available in VAMS, be sure to check back often — new clinics will be opened as vaccine doses are allocated and currently opened clinics are filled. Once appointments are filled, the University will communicate when additional appointments are made available, so please keep a close eye on your email.

“This is the best opportunity for students and employees to be vaccinated prior to the end of the spring semester,” said Rob Alsop, vice president for Strategic Initiatives. “COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective, and is the best path forward as a University community toward a brighter future.”

Students should communicate with their instructors if the vaccine appointment available to them conflicts with class. Instructors are asked to be flexible and understanding with their students if they are unable to attend class due to their first or second vaccine dose appointment.

Employees and students who received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at the Greater Monongalia County COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic on Thursday, March 25, will receive their second dose at that same location. However, all additional first- and second-dose appointments through the University moving forward will take place at the Student Recreation Center

If you have not previously completed a WVU questionnaire but would like to receive a vaccine from the University this semester, you still may do so at go.wvu.edu/covid-vaccine-survey. Students and employees who completed a prior WVU questionnaire do not need to complete a new survey.

However, those who previously completed a WVU questionnaire and have decided not to receive a vaccine or have been vaccinated elsewhere are asked to complete this form so their allocated dose can be provided to someone else.

The University strongly recommends all students and employees be vaccinated for COVID-19. If you have questions about the safety and efficacy of the vaccine, the University suggests speaking with your primary care physician or a representative from WVU Medicine Student Health. Those administering vaccines at the Student Rec Center can also answer any questions you may have during your appointment.
