WVU to vaccinate faculty and staff aged 49 and younger

covid 19 vaccine

West Virginia University has learned it will receive sufficient supply of COVID-19 vaccine doses in the coming weeks from the Higher Education Policy Commission and the West Virginia Joint Interagency Task Force to vaccinate all faculty and staff aged 49 and younger who expressed interest in receiving a vaccine.

To expedite the vaccination process, WVU has partnered with WVU Medicine to administer vaccinations for this employee population group.

Vaccinations for faculty and staff aged 40 to 49 will take place next Thursday, March 25, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Greater Monongalia County COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic, which is located at the former Sears site at the Morgantown Mall (view directions).

Both first and second doses will be administered at the Greater Monongalia County COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic.

Employees aged 40 to 49 who expressed interest in receiving a vaccine through a questionnaire distributed by the University should have received scheduling instructions yesterday (March 18) afternoon via their WVU email.

Employees who previously were scheduled to receive their second dose of the vaccine next Thursday (March 25) at the WVU Student Recreation Center now will receive their second dose at the Greater Monongalia County COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic. These employees also should have received an email yesterday about this change in location and a phone call from a WVU Medicine representative to reschedule their appointment.

Faculty and staff aged 39 and younger who expressed interest via a WVU questionnaire in receiving a vaccine will be vaccinated in late March or early April at the Greater Monongalia County COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic. Employees aged 39 and younger should monitor their WVU email for additional information and scheduling instructions.

Students who expressed interest via a WVU questionnaire in receiving the COVID-19 vaccine before the end of semester should continue to monitor their MIX email and students.wvu.edu for more information if additional doses should become available.

In the meantime, students who are West Virginia residents are encouraged to pre-register through the Department of Health and Human Resources pre-registration portal. Additional information is available at vaccinate.wv.gov or by calling 833-734-0965 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Students who are not West Virginia residents should contact their local health department for guidance on COVID-19 vaccine registration options.
