Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Meshea L. Poore continues her weekly series of short videos, exploring topics centered on helping members of the WVU community live, learn and work together with care and respect for each other.

This week’s video, released March 9, addresses food justice.

“Food is a basic need and a human right,” Poore said. “Food justice, or food insecurity as some may call it, is when people don’t have reliable access to affordable, culturally appropriate, and nutritious food.”

Poore offers praise for groups working to address this problem, including The Rack, WVU’s Food Justice Lab, West Virginia Food Link and WVU’s Center for Resilient Communities.

The Let’s Talk series, with a new video each Tuesday, will address a diversity of topics, including gender identity, cultural appropriation and intersectionality.
