Starting today Monday (March 8) employees who need to securely send, receive and share files containing sensitive data should use LiquidFiles at liquidfiles.wvu.edu. This service replaces FileLocker, which will be decommissioned on March 22.
Employees will still be able to download previously shared files from FileLocker until then, but unable to upload new documents.
LiquidFiles has the same features and functionality as FileLocker, including file-size limits and the ability to access documents you have uploaded for as many as 14 days. You can also share files with one recipient or many using the Contacts feature.
LiquidFiles is intended for use with sensitive data and highly confidential information, not routine academic functions. Faculty who want to deliver course content and other large files to students should instead use Google Drive, which is connected with their University-issued MIX account or other current instructional tools. Students also have access to Google services.
Staff should use OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Teams sharing and collaborating on large files whenever possible, unless they contain sensitive data. These services are also available to faculty. Information Technology Services provides a comparison chart of the tools for guidance.
