Eligible faculty and staff encouraged to still express interest in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine

WVU recently began administering COVID-19 vaccinations for eligible employees based on guidelines developed by the West Virginia Joint Interagency Task Force.

And as part of Phase 1-D, higher education employees aged 65 and older received priority for these first waves of vaccines, followed by those aged 50 and older. WVU Medicine is vaccinating health care providers and hospital staff as part of phases 1-A and 1-C

Employees based in Morgantown who meet these eligibility requirements were sent an email questionnaire from covidvaccine@mail.wvu.edu on Wednesday, Dec. 23, to determine their willingness and availability to take a vaccine. The subject line for the email was “WVU COVID-19 Vaccine Questionnaire.”

The deadline to respond to the questionnaire was Tuesday, Dec. 29; however, the link within the email to the questionnaire was not set to expire on this date.

If you meet the above eligibility requirements but overlooked the email inviting you to express interest in receiving a COVID-19 vaccine, you still may complete the questionnaire via the link in the initial email message from last month. To locate the questionnaire email, you can search or sort your inbox using the above details (e.g., sender, date, subject, etc.).

If you inadvertently deleted the initial message, check your “Trash” folder in Outlook. If you still cannot locate the message, you may email covidvaccine@mail.wvu.edu to confirm your eligibility and request the questionnaire be resent to you.

Responses to the questionnaire will be compiled and used to determine the initial order of vaccine distribution.

As doses of vaccines become available, names and contact information for those who meet eligibility requirements and indicated interest and availability are submitted to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Vaccine Administration Management System, which is used for inventory tracking and vaccine delivery.

If you already have completed the questionnaire but have not yet received an invitation from VAMS to create your profile and schedule your first-dose appointment, please be patient. You will receive instructions as more doses become available.

Updates and additional information will be provided as each new phase and rollout is announced, including details on priority recipients and other criteria based on guidance from the CDC, the State, WVU and other health experts.

The University will ensure every person who wants a vaccine is able to get one as quickly as they are available and in accordance with guidance from the State.
