The Teaching and Learning Commons will offer two mini-institutes to support you as you prepare courses for the Spring 2021 semester. Course Organization and Communication will be held Jan. 4-8 and Student Engagement Jan. 11-15.
Session One: Course Organization and Communication
This session will focus on organizing your course within a Learning Management System. While the course will take place in eCampus, the principles and concepts of course organization and design will be applicable to other platforms (e.g. SOLE). This session will also focus on communicating with students in the online environment. Principles of online communication, strategies for communicating online with students and the different communication tools available will be included.
Session Two: Student Engagement
This session will focus on engaging students in both synchronous and asynchronous delivery. The tools and strategies covered can be adapted to fit many different disciplines and platforms. You will also have the opportunity to use some of the tools from the student perspective and have the chance to create an active learning activity that you can use in a course.
