Faculty and staff encouraged to use annual leave during holiday season

As we approach the holiday season, the University is encouraging employees to use their annual leave whenever possible to relax, recharge and spend time with family. As always, be sure to check with your supervisor to ensure there is sufficient coverage among your team before taking leave.

As you know, 2020 has been a challenging year. Throughout the spring and fall semesters, our faculty and staff have demonstrated tremendous agility and perseverance going above and beyond to support WVU in navigating the challenges related to COVID-19.

And while we sincerely appreciate these efforts, the Division of Talent and Culture wants to ensure faculty and staff don’t lose sight of the importance of taking time off work and its positive effect on an employee’s physical and emotional well-being.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many employees have curtailed trips, vacation plans or taking time off due to work demands. As a result, some benefits-eligible employees may have reached or be close to reaching their maximum amount of permitted annual leave accrual.

Employees can view their leave balances under the Leave & Time tab within the Applaud HR system. You can access Applaud via portal.wvu.edu.

Visit the Talent and Culture website for more information on leave at West Virginia University. Visit the Salesforce Community for instructions on performing various tasks in Applaud.

Contact WVU Shared Services at 304-293-6006 or sharedservices@mail.wvu.edu with any questions. You also may contact your HR partner.
