The WVU LaunchLab and WVU Industrial Extension hosted their first virtual pitch competition on Oct. 15 where students pitched manufactured product innovations for the opportunity to win $4,750 in cash and resources. The LaunchLab, dedicated to release the potential and boost the enthusiasm of our WVU students, announced that this pitch competition was the largest event to date.
The contestants were given three minutes to pitch their manufactured product followed by five minutes of question and answers with the judges. The first-place winner is Nate Arndt with Nate’s Nets, second-place winner is Anthony Garber with the Easy Leash and the third-place finalist is Elvis Tanyi-Arrey with the Face Mask Shield.
“Riding off this momentum I'm going ten times harder making content, marketing, networking, and finding new ways to get my products out,” Arndt said. “It has been a challenging event that taught me a lot about myself, my customers, and the value I can add for them. I am grateful for the opportunity to participate.”
“It was an honor and a pleasure to collaborate with the Launch Lab for the Pitch Competition,” said David Carrick, business operations manager at WVU Industrial Extension. “The creativity and passion exhibited by the finalists is a true demonstration of the bright future we have with young inventors bringing inventive ideas to the market.”
