For a third time, WVU is one of 55 employers to receive the 2020 North American Candidate Experience award. WVU is once again the only higher education institution to receive this award.

"Ensuring that candidates feel welcome and engaged at West Virginia University is our top priority throughout the entire hiring process," said Tracey Morris, director of Talent Strategy. "From interviews to the onboarding process, we want candidates to have a high-quality experience and feel right at home here."

The Talent Board is a non-profit research organization committed to improving the candidate experience. They conduct the CandE awards annually. Winners were identified through a comprehensive data analysis based on their job candidates’ satisfaction survey scores.

The final analysis included four key questions that had a significant impact on determining the winners:

  1. The candidates’ overall ranking of their candidate experience,

  2. Whether or not they would reapply to the organization in the future,

  3. Whether or not they would refer other job seekers to the organization in the future,

  4. And how the candidates would change their business relationship status with the organization going forward based on their experience.

Other 2020 CandE recipients include Johnson & Johnson, Procter & Gamble and Southwest Airlines.

“For the past several years, we have continued to focus on culture improvement at WVU and creating a great experience for faculty and staff — from hire to retire. And while we recognize there’s still work to do in many areas, it is an honor to be recognized for our efforts,” expressed Cris DeBord, vice president of Talent and Culture.
