Software Carpentry aims to help researchers get their work done in less time with less pain by teaching basic research computing skills. This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems. Researchers are welcome to attend one or both workshops. Registration is required.

Participants need a laptop with a Mac, Linux or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc.) that they have administrative privileges on. They should have a few specific software packages installed (listed on registration page).

The Basic Python workshop will be held every Tuesday for four weeks from Oct. 6-27 from 2-4 p.m. Register for the Basic Python workshop.

The Bash/Git workshop will be held every Thursday for four weeks Oct. 8-29 from 4-6 p.m. Register for the Bash/Git workshop.
