Kenneth Joseph Ryan, Eberly College of Arts and Sciences professor of statistics, was recently elected a fellow of the American Statistical Association, the world’s largest community of statisticians.
The Association honors new fellows annually during the Joint Statistical Meeting, which is billed as the world's largest gathering of statisticians in North America. Fellowship is limited to no more than one-third of one percent of the membership in a given year.
Ryan's citation for this honor was for his “significant contributions to the theory of design of experiments and statistically principled machine learning and to applied research for important applications; for the development of an academic program and department and mentorship of students; and for service to the American Statistical Association."
