Research from the University’s health experts shows the gaiter WVU is providing as part of the Welcome Back Kits is effective in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Our experts have conducted multiple tests and have concluded the gaiter reduces the spread of exhaled droplets. Assuming the gaiter fits snuggly around the face, it will provide a respiratory containment comparable to a common cloth mask. Read about the research at WVUToday.
However, if you chose a gaiter as part of your Welcome Back Kit and would prefer a face mask instead, you may pick one up at the outdoor tents near the Mountainlair and Rec Center on the Morgantown campus.
