Finding our strength in our community is a central theme for the Center for Service and Learning for the fall 2020 semester. In support of that theme, CSL and iServe will offer resources to help students develop civic responsibility and apply community awareness.
Due to WVU’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, CSL will discourage direct service in local communities this fall. Instead, the focus will be on exploring avenues to expand community awareness and pathways where students can build on their passions. We will provide students opportunities to experience many diverse forms of community engagement that will allow them to prepare personal strategies for maximizing their service experiences in the spring and beyond.
iServe’s focus will shift to three areas: critical need, virtual engagement and community leadership, rather than traditional in-person service projects.
Starting Aug. 26, we will highlight the three focus areas on the iServe database and provide multiple ways to connect and explore the learning and passion behind community engagement.
Visit iServe and join as many opportunities as possible to learn more about yourself and ways you can contribute to your community, promote social action and advocate for causes that are personal to you.
We will work with students, departments and units to record engagement hours for fall 2020 that will count toward any required or desired service hours on your iServe resume.
