eCampus course development must pause July 20, complete outage of eCampus set for July 23-27

All instructors and students are encouraged to plan now for an extended outage of eCampus, the eCampus Request System and all integrated third-party tools from 12:01 a.m. Thursday, July 23 until 11:59 p.m. Monday, July 27.

Faculty who are actively developing course content must pause those efforts starting Monday, July 20, so ITS can begin to back up data and prepare for the scheduled work. Content development may resume on Tuesday, July 28 or whenever the outage is finished.

Though there is never a good time for eCampus to be down, this work is a critical part of ensuring that WVU can quickly scale up to a fully online learning environment if needed. The system will be moved from physical, on-campus servers to a more agile, cloud-based environment managed by Blackboard in time for the start of the fall semester.

These dates were approved as being disruptive to the smallest possible number of faculty and students. These are the only dates available to both WVU and Blackboard before fall classes begin.
