Help available to support mental wellness in the classroom

As we complete the first week of classes, it is important to remember mental health is a key factor in retention and overall student success.

Faculty and instructors play an important role in supporting student well-being, and small, intentional practices in the classroom can make a big difference.

The Carruth Center and the Faculty Senate Student Recruitment and Retention Committee have partnered to create "5 Tips to Build a Caring Classroom Community.”

These practical strategies, such as setting clear expectations, incorporating interactive learning, and embedding mental health into the curriculum, can help create safe, supportive and inclusive environments where students thrive.

Faculty are encouraged to review these tips as they prepare for the semester.

Together, we can help promote student success and strengthen our WVU community.
