REMINDER: Use VPN to access MyTime and other internal systems when working remotely, not Workspace

Employees working off campus can get to email, calendars, Teams and anything else in the Office 365 suite using just their home internet service. Those who need to connect to WVU’s network for restricted resources should use the Virtual Private Network (VPN) rather than any previously available services.

On Friday, March 20, ITS will remove web browsers, O365 / Office applications, Acrobat Reader and File Explorer (J:, N: Drive, Etc.) from Workspace. Those services are now available through VPN, and the capacity of Workspace is extremely limited. This change affects all WVU employees, except those working at WVU Parkersburg.

Users at the Health Sciences Center should refer to HSC resources for remote-access questions.

To use the new VPN, follow these instructions. You must have current, supported anti-virus software and a current operating system. If you need anti-virus, visit freeav.wvu.edu and install Sophos. You will only be able to reach the VPN from within the United States, and you may only have one active session at a time. VPN connections contribute to the burden on the WVU network, so use it ONLY for important University business, and disconnect the VPN when your work is complete.

Please call the ITS Service Desk at 304-293-4444 if you have problems with installation.
