COVID-19 topic of free online community seminar

COVID-19

WVU Medicine East and the WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center Eastern Campus will broadcast an online-only community mini-medical school program on COVID-19.

The seminar titled COVID-19 Coronavirus Update will be broadcast from the WVU Medicine East Facebook page on Tuesday (March 17) at 7 p.m. The video update will also be available on the Patients & Visitors section of the Berkeley Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center websites after the lecture.

WVU Medicine is taking a proactive role in keeping the public safe, while providing important information with our community. This broadcast will replace the regularly scheduled in-person mini-medical school program in March.

Dr. Matthew Simmons, infectious disease specialist with WVU Medicine East, will discuss how Berkeley Medical Center and Jefferson Medical Center are working closely with local, state and federal agencies to monitor the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

As concerns grow for the spread of this respiratory illnesses, Dr. Simmons will offer tips on how to prevent the spread of viruses along with an in-depth discussion on how to keep you and your family safe from COVID-19.
