The John Chambers College of Business and Economics and the College of Law will hold a joint Distinguished Speaker Series featuring Kimberly A. Reed, president and chairman of the Board of Directors of the federal Export-Import Bank of the United States March 2, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Marlyn E. Lugar Courtroom at the College of Law.
Reed is recognized as one of the “100 Women Leaders in STEM” and is the first female chair of the Republican National Lawyers Association. In 2019, she became the first woman and the first West Virginian to lead EXIM, confirmed by a vote of 79 to 17. Before beginning her role with EXIM, Reed was President of the International Food Information Council Foundation. She also served as senior adviser to U.S. Treasury Secretaries John Snow and Henry Paulson and led the U.S. Treasury Department’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund, where she awarded nearly $4 billion in tax credits, loans and grants to financial institutions and economic development groups for investing in economically distressed communities.
Reed is a 1996 graduate of WVU’s College of Law. The Buckhannon native holds a B.S. in biology and government from West Virginia Wesleyan College.
