W. Kamau Bell to visit campus as part of the Hardesty Festival of Ideas

W Kamau Bell

The Hardesty Festival of Ideas returns March 25 with W. Kamau Bell at the WVU Creative Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. in the Lyle B. Clay Theatre. He will perform his one-man-show that inspired Totally Biased, The W. Kamau Bell Curve: Ending Racism in About an Hour.

Bell, a sociopolitical comedian, Emmy-winning producer, and host of CNN’s United Shades of America talks about his work traversing the country and talking to people about what it means to be an American in the 21st century. Kamau uses clips from the show, featuring a diverse array of voices, to demonstrate how we can all connect in these so-called “divided times.” Kamau’s mix of storytelling, stand-up comedy, and heartfelt words embody the message of his CNN show: We are all the people.

This event is free and open to the public. However, tickets are required and can be claimed through Eventbrite beginning March 2nd.

Festival of Ideas was created in 1995 by President Emeritus David C. Hardesty Jr. It was inspired by events he organized as WVU’s student body president in the 1960’s.

Today, the lecture series spans the academic year and brings a diverse group of newsmakers, public figures and thought leaders—along with WVU’s own academic superstars—to engage the campus community in important issues of the day.
