Disability Awareness Presentations

Accessibility Disability

Teressa Oliverio-Frease and Samantha Host, Accessibility Specialists, from the Office of Accessibility Services will host a series of presentations involving hot topics about Disability Awareness. 

Oliverio-Frease and Host are certified ADA Leadership Network Trainers and the content of the presentations are provided by Cornell University for the Mid-Atlantic ADA.

The presentations will be in the Mountainlair.  No reservations are required. Call the Office of Accessibility Services at 304-293-6700 and ask for Oliverio-Frease or Host.

Empathy not Sympathy – Feb. 18, 10-11 a.m. – Gold Ballroom. Increase awareness of language and behaviors that enable positive interaction with individuals with disabilities. 

Service Animals vs. Emotional Support Animals – March 3, 10-11 a.m. – Gluck Theater. Discuss laws surrounding service animals and emotional support animals on campus. 

Everyone is Different: An Overview of Disability Types – March 10, 10-11 a.m. – Gluck Theater. Discuss a variety of disabilities.

Non-Obvious Disabilities – March 31, 10-11 a.m. – Gluck Theater. Discuss disabilities that may be referred to as “invisible” disabilities.

Disability Wrap-Up – April 21, 10-11 a.m. – Gluck Theater. Provide an overview of previous presentations.
