WVU Libraries has revamped its website to make it easier for users to find needed resources.
First, the minimalist homepage displays the search box more prominently, and improved accessibility behind the scenes allows the search box to work better with screen readers.
Other changes highlight some of the Libraries’ most popular resources and services. At the top of the page are the boxes that link to the Ask-a-Librarian page, Research Guides and study room reservations.
The Ask-a-Librarian page provides live help with research questions through its chat window. This service is available Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to midnight; Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 p.m. to midnight. Other options include texting queries to
304.220.0919, calling the Research Services desk or sending an email. Research consultations with subject specialists are available by appointment, as well.
Librarians have developed a collection of online research guides that focus on particular subject areas or specific classes. The guides help students find academic sources for papers and projects. There are close to 300 research guides; visit the research guides site for a complete list.
Study rooms provide a quiet space for students to gather to study for exams, write papers or collaborate on group projects. Most study rooms are equipped with computers and monitors. Because of their popularity, reservations are required.
