Mountainlair to host WV Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference

West Virginia Council for the Social Studies Annual Conference will be held in the Mountainlair July 25-26 with support from the Department of Curriculum & Instruction/Literacy Studies and the WV Department of Education Office of Middle and Secondary Learning. 

An advanced screening (free and open to the public) of “In Tune: A Community of Musicians,” which focuses on old-time music and musicians in communities throughout West Virginia will be shown Thursday (July 25) from 2:30-3:45 p.m. This will be followed by a Learning Night from 4-6 p.m., where attendees can mix and mingle with social studies educators and learn of resources available in the state including McGraw-Hill Education, We The People, WV National History Day and WV & Regional History Center.

Teacher presentations, a catered lunch and elections will take place Friday (July 26) from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., followed by a tour of the West Virginia & Regional History Center.
