WVU Login self-service site has new features and password-update process

Information Technology

The first time you need to change your Login password after July 1, you will use a different process at the new login.wvu.edu. You must select Claim Account and follow the instructions. The process only takes a few minutes, and your new password will be good for one year.

Your username and email address are not affected by this upgrade, and no immediate action is required. When your current password expires, you will receive an email with instructions.

While claiming your account in the new system, you must submit a non-WVU email address or mobile phone number that you will use later to unlock your account or reset your password. ITS is not collecting this information for any other purpose. This self-help feature should mean fewer calls to the Service Desk and a faster return to productivity. It also mirrors the way you use other online services.

You will be unable to change passwords or unlock accounts every Sunday between 12:01 a.m. and 1 p.m., the regular maintenance window for the new site. New employees and newly-admitted students will be unable to claim accounts during this time. You can still print Duo two-factor authentication backup codes, add a display token, look up your WVUID number and change recovery contact information during the maintenance period.

Contact the ITS Service Desk at 304.293.4444 for help.
