The West Virginia Public Education Collaborative encourages the WVU community to attend free, fun, interactive “Remake Learning Days” from May 9-19 statewide.

As one of the WVPEC’s partner organizations, Remake Learning is in its fourth year of hosting events across West Virginia to create future-ready, innovative learning experiences for youth of all ages.

Featured learning themes include the arts, makers, outdoor learning, science, technology, youth voice and professional development. Individuals of all ages may attend events at schools, museums, libraries, tech companies, and care centers to build robots, code art spinners, direct films, be scientists, print inventions on a 3D printer and much more!

While many events hold unlimited capacity, some have registration limits. Parents, students and caregivers are encouraged to sign up now.

“The WVPEC is proud to support our partner organization, Remake Learning, in offering creative ways students and families can experience learning inside and outside of the classroom,” said Donna Peduto, executive director of the WVPEC. “As our collaborative aims to champion public education across West Virginia, we know that innovation—in teaching, technology, curriculum and professional development practices—is key to optimizing the best education for our young people. We look forward to working with our partners now to help our youth gain the skills necessary that will allow them to achieve their brightest futures.”

Driven by technology, rapid cultural and societal shifts mean that children are absorbing and using information differently. The Remake Learning network launched Remake Learning Days in 2016 in response to the need to provide opportunities for parents to connect with the new, innovative learning happening in kids’ classrooms. In addition, the network wanted to bring these opportunities to a broader socioeconomic demographic of audiences. Since its launch, more than 53,000 youth, parents and caregivers have participated in 600+ Remake Learning Days events - the majority of which were free.
