West Virginia University invites the campus and community to celebrate Joyce McConnell’s service to the University on Monday, May 13 from 5 - 7 p.m. in the College of Law Event Hall.
McConnell has been at WVU for more than 20 years. She was recently named the president of Colorado State University and will officially step into that role on July 1.
McConnell was appointed provost of WVU by President E. Gordon Gee in July 2014. In that role, she has demonstrated her commitment to WVU’s land-grant mission of ensuring access to exceptional education, supporting and facilitating innovative research and serving the needs of the state and people of West Virginia. Prior to assuming the role of provost, she served as the dean of the WVU College of Law for six years, a role in which she led the College’s $26 million renovation and expansion.
Throughout her career and in all her leadership roles, McConnell has been an advocate for equity in education and the workplace, and for the preservation and protection of our environment.
