U92 and Student Media launch new studio crowdfunding campaign

U92 WWVU-FM, the student-run radio station and home of new music and broadcaster development at WVU, is in desperate need of new equipment and more space. To solve this problem, U92 and Student Media have launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise the needed funds.

The plan is to move U92 to the Daily Athenaeum building on Prospect Street, a block-and-a-half away from the Mountainlair, where the new station will occupy most of the first floor. There, the new station will include two new broadcast studios, production studios, common workspace, staff offices, and other amenities, along with a 24-hour secure building and lighted parking lot. The new studios will include all-new world-class broadcast equipment, and the studio will overlook the big windows facing Prospect Street, so onlookers can watch the DJs at work.

Along with this big move will be added collaboration with the DA, WVU's independent newspaper, as well as cost savings, closer proximity to the Student Media professional staff, and other efficiencies.
