Registration is open now for Supervisor Solutions Topic III - Leading Teams, Transforming Culture, which will be held from 8:15 a.m. to noon Thursday, (April 18) in the Rhododendron Room, Mountainlair.
Transforming culture includes forming, implementing, evaluating and executing cross-functional decisions with people to enable the University to achieve its long-term objectives. It is the process of specifying the mission, vision, goals and objectives; developing policies and plans often in terms of projects and programs, which are designed to achieve these objectives; and then allocating resources to implement the policies and plans, projects and programs. This program provides supervisors the time to reflect, discuss, assess and identify actions that support strategic thinking and execution.
In the session, we examine the fundamental aspects of the supervisor’s role in leading the development of the organization’s culture. Participants will relate how emotional intelligence influences their capacity to lead and develop others and understand how the dynamics of a team have an impact on the overall culture of an organization.
Participants will be better able to accomplish these goals:
• Review the fundamentals discussed in “Introduction to Coaching” and “Leading Self and Teams”.
• Define and discuss what strategic leadership is at WVU.
• Discuss strategies for identifying and developing crucial networks.
• Consider internal and external factors on strategic planning and execution
• Apply and practice coaching techniques that create clear expectations for effective work groups.
Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have questions or require disability-related accommodation, let us know as soon as possible by contacting Leadership and Organization Development at 304.293.7217 or LOD@mail.wvu.edu.
