West Virginia University faculty, staff and students are invited to join an open conversation today (Feb. 28) at noon at the Okey Patteson Auditorium at the Health Sciences Center on House Bill 2519, which commonly is referred to as “campus carry.” The bill, which would permit concealed weapons to be carried in designated areas on campus by concealed weapons license holders, is making its way through the West Virginia Legislature and advanced last night out of the House of Delegates and will now be considered by the Senate.

When: Thursday, Feb. 28 – noon to 1 p.m.

Where: Okey Patteson Auditorium (WVU Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center)

The conversation will be facilitated by Rob Alsop, vice president for Strategic Initiatives, and Clay Marsh, M.D., vice president and executive dean for Health Sciences. The discussion will provide an opportunity for our campus community to share their thoughts and concerns and ask questions about the legislation, as well as receive updates on the bill’s status.

The conversation also will be available to watch live at https://www.hsc.wvu.edu/live-feed for anyone unable to attend in person. Supervisors are encouraged to allow their staff to attend or view the discussion as long as their operational needs permit.

RSVPs are requested, but not required. Email campusconversations@mail.wvu.edu to register.

Questions may be submitted before the event to campusconversations@mail.wvu.edu or via this form, which is not associated with an email.
