This week, diners at Café Evansdale and Hatfields will be able to taste the flavors of Germany thanks to a visit from Global Chef Marcel Pohle.
Pohle, from Germany, is spending a one-month residency in the U.S. through the Global Chef Program, and is visiting WVU this week. He has assisted WVU Dining Services in creating an authentic German menu, which will be featured for dinner from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 14) at Café Evansdale, and for lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday (Feb. 15 )at Hatfields.
This experience will allow Pohle, students, patrons and the local culinary team to share authentic German cuisine and culture.
Thursday’s menu includes items such as potato soup with bacon and onions; roast pork with mustard crust and caraway gravy; bayrischkraut; red cabbage with apples; coalfish in beer batter with remoulade; Bavarian crème with marinated berries; as well as a demonstration of the cooking of Eierspaetzle with butter and caramelized onions.
