A University policy that formalizes and standardizes practices around the issuance and proper disposal of WVU identification cards is now available for public review. Faculty, staff and students may send comments on the proposed policy to Information Technology Services at InfoSec@mail.wvu.edu before midnight Feb. 3.

Among other things, this proposed policy:

  • Identifies who is eligible for a WVU ID card;

  • Specifies that ID cards are a technology resource and therefore subject to the WVU Acceptable Use of Data and Technology Resources policy;

  • Defines the intended uses and misuse of ID cards;

  • Prohibits the sharing of ID cards;

  • And clarifies that Information Technology Services will limit the collection and distribution of personal data collected when issuing an ID card.

Read the policy. You must have valid WVU Login credentials to access this document.

After the public comment period, this policy will be forwarded to the University Planning Committee for final review, revisions and approval.
