An Oscar nomination won’t entice Elaine McMillion Sheldon and her husband, Kerrin, away from their passion: telling the stories of their home state of West Virginia in hopes of bringing attention, and solutions, to its problems – especially opioid addiction.

Female law student  

The College of Law is one of the best schools in the country for public interest law, according to preLaw Magazine. The publication ranks WVU Law sixth in the nation for preparing students to work in public interest law, a field of law that serves those in need, including the elderly, children and victims of domestic violence.

Dr. Jim Withers: Bringing  

For more than two decades, Dr. Jim Withers has been doing street rounds in Pittsburgh, PA, providing medical care to the homeless. Withers, of Operation Safety Net and a 2015 Top 10 CNN Hero will be giving a talk on homelessness and street medicine on the WVU Health Sciences Campus on Feb. 12. The public event will be at noon in the Okey Patteson Auditorium. Guests are also invited for refreshments and the chance to speak with Dr. Withers following the talk in the Pylons area.
