When Lionel Marshall came to the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, he never dreamed that he would one day become a cheerleader for the school. However, when a fellow student and member of the cheerleading squad challenged him to a bet that would result in him joining the team if he lost, he simply couldn’t refuse the challenge.

March is National Nutrition Month, and the WVU Medicine Dietetic Internship Program and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics are encouraging everyone to “focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.”
Individuals are being sought to participate in a free diabetes and hypertension management lifestyle intervention beginning in March focused on diet, exercise, stress, diabetes and high blood pressure management.
Three members of the wrestling team have been named to the 2018 Academic All-Big 12 Wrestling Teams. Redshirt freshman Hunter Jones (business) and sophomore Ryan Lopez (management) were named to the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, while redshirt freshman Matthew Schmitt (business) garnered second team accolades.
Redshirt senior Amy Cashin and redshirt junior Madelin Gardner of the track and field team have qualified for the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Cashin qualified for the women's mile, while Gardner is set to compete in the women's pole vault. The two are the first Mountaineers to qualify for the national indoor meet since Kelly Williams in 2013. The meet commences from March 9-10, in College Station, Texas.
Sophomore Morgan Bullock and junior Emma Harris of the women's swimming and diving team have qualified for the 2018 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
