‘For the Beauty of the Earth’ Community Orchestra Fall Concert to be held

Morgantown Community Orchestra

The Morgantown Community Orchestra, supported by the School of Music's Community Music Program, will present its Fall Concert "For the Beauty of the Earth" Sunday (Dec. 2). The 2 p.m. concert is free and open to the public and will be held in the Lyell B Clay Concert Theatre of the WVU Creative Arts Center. The Orchestra, under the direction of Andre Januario, is a group of area amateur and professional musicians, college students, middle school and high school students, who rehearse once a week to share their love of music-making. This concert will be dedicated to Lillian Waugh, a long-time member who recently passed away.

The Orchestra will host and share the stage with several area children's choirs for this concert, including the Community Music Program's own Morgantown Youth Choir, led by Leticia Grutzmann. Among the works featured will be music by Bach, Brahms, Tchaikovsky and Vaughan Williams. A reception, with opportunity to meet the performers, will immediately follow the concert in the main lobby of the Creative Arts Center.
