Hear from social workers about the issues they deal with every day and student athletes who, through an interactive panel, promise “truth, no fluff” as part of the 2018 Diversity Week.
Social work practitioners will address homelessness, the opioid crisis and other contemporary issues that affect society today. The panel consists of Caitlin Sussman, Fanica Payne, Washington Gondi, Courtney Lanham and Mustafa Rfat. Moderated by Dana Morrow from the School of Social Work, the event begins at 4 p.m. today (Oct. 2) in the Rhododendron Room at the Mountainlair.
Student athletes are featured panelists at Truth No Fluff, where they’ll share the highs, the lows and everything in between. The event includes an open forum Q&A and a segment on social media interaction. Featured student athletes are: Katrina Pardee, Tynice Martin and Naomi Davenport, women’s basketball; Bianca St. Georges, women’s soccer; Jake Armstrong, men’s swimming; Rob Dowdy, football; Chase Harler, men’s basketball; and Darius Hill, baseball. The moderators are Pat Biondo, director of basketball operations, assistant to the head coach and Ayana Dunning, assistant director of basketball operations. The event takes place today (Oct. 2) from 7-9 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms.
