Libraries offering workshop on managing rights to your published research

The Downtown Campus Library

In addition to producing scholarship, researchers need to understand how to manage the distribution of their work through publishing and other forms of sharing, such as personal or departmental websites, digital repositories like SSRN and arXiv, and academic networking sites like ResearchGate and Academia.edu.

In this one hour workshop, you will learn about your rights as an academic author, and how these rights can change through the course of publishing your work. You will acquire experience scrutinizing author-publisher agreements, and learn how these agreements impact your ability to lawfully share your work online and elsewhere. You will also learn about strategies for retaining the rights that enable you to share your work in the places that are most important to you.

There are two opportunities to attend this workshop: tomorrow (Sept. 25)  from 2 to 3 p.m., and Oct. 15, from 4 to 5 p.m. Both sessions will be held in Downtown Campus Library, Room 104.
