Upcoming career fairs this week

WVU will host more than 250 employers at upcoming career fairs. Organizations will range from state and local to multi-national companies, such as Procter & Gamble and Schaeffler Group.

The College of Business and Economics Career Fair will be Wednesday (Sept. 19) from 1 to 5 p.m. and the Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources Career Fair will be Thursday (Sept. 20) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both events will be held at the Student Recreation Center to provide a convenient format for employers who are hiring students from both colleges.

“These employers want WVU students in their companies, so it’s important that students come prepared to learn about these opportunities face-to-face. It’s a great chance for students to learn about employers within their pathway, whether they are in their final year or not,” said Rachael Conrad, assistant director of employer relations of the Career Services Center. All students, regardless of their rank and major are encouraged to attend. Employers will be searching for candidates to fill a variety of positions, including internships, co-ops and full-time jobs.

“Fostering collaboration between faculty and employers is a key element to providing comprehensive services to our employer partners,” according to Kellyn Smith, director of the Center for Career Development in the College of Business and Economics. A joint Networking Reception for faculty, student organization leaders, and employers will be held on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Evansdale Crossing.

Employer representatives will have the chance to increase their brand recognition among faculty and student organizations, as well as discuss research and development opportunities in specific academic areas.

These events are made possible through the generous support of our sponsors, including Aldi, Ecolab, GE, GoCanvas, Oshkosh, P&G, Schaeffler, Stanley Black & Decker, and Williams.

To see a list of all organizations attending and review the positions for which they are recruiting, go to careerservices.wvu.edu/events/career-fairs; the site also includes resume review dates and tips to make the most of the career fairs. These events are open to all WVU students and alumni, and professional attire is required.
