As a final reminder, the Office of WVU Veterans Affairs and the Davis College Veteran Professional Organization will host Veterans Welcome Back Weekend for student veterans Friday (Aug. 24) and Saturday (Aug. 25). The event is made possible through the generous support of Adventure WV, Boeing and various departments across the University, as well as local businesses.
The event is presented by veterans for veterans and designed to build a sense of community among WVU student veterans and their families and help them learn about the programs and services available to support their transition from the military into college life.
The weekend will begin on Friday, Aug. 24, with a reception and a series of seminars for student veterans and their spouses or partners. The seminars also are open to faculty and staff who are interested in learning about WVU’s offerings and how they can support student veterans.
Note: The venue for the Friday evening event has changed from the WVU Natural Resources Conference Center to the WVU Erickson Alumni Center. If you already are registered to attend Friday’s event, there is no need to re-register. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
On Saturday, student veterans and their families are invited to participate in a variety of free activities offered by the Adventure WV Outdoor Education Center at Coopers Rock. Activities will begin at 9 a.m. and include a ropes course, kayaking, mountain biking and more.
Register to participate in the Veterans Welcome Back Weekend. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis, so be sure to sign up today.
